Welcome Elementary fully implemented 1:1 iPads with all grade levels this school year 2013-2014. Here is a brief summary of our iPad Journey.
Pad Initiative Plan at Welcome year 1
Teachers were trained monthly during grade level planning periods (40 minutes) using a variety of presentation tools. Their favorite presentation tool was www.padlet.com because it was very interactive and it allowed for different comfort levels, interests, and abilities. I had 2-3 new apps or technology integration ideas that I needed to teach during each session. Then, based on the information submitted on the Google Doc Form, How Can I Help You Survey, I designed lessons and posted them on the Padlet Wall. Teachers were able to learn independently while I answered questions or helped those in need.
Also, I was able to use a Google Doc for teachers to sign up for me to meet with them during planning to design lessons, share new apps, and model lessons in their classrooms. That was, and is, my favorite part.
On March 12, we led an iPad Learning Walk for educators and administrators from around the upstate who are interested in pursuing a 1:1 iPad environment. See the blog post about the visit.
